I'm Neutral

I have been searching for my decorating personality for years. I'd try different styles, colors, etc. but nothing seemed to work. I was never happy with the result for very long. I FINALLY figured it out. I hope.

The problem is, I think, is that I was trying to take the advice of all the decorating experts yelling: "Color. Use color. Everywhere!" After seeing something by
Atlanta Bartlett on neutrals it finally clicked – I want neutrals. Not just neutrals, but a base of tan (I won't say beige) with muted colors as accents.

So here's the beginning - finding the perfect shade of tan. The green colors currently on the walls was throwing me off, but I did find the right color. I hope to paint the downstairs when I'm on vacation soon.

He can flatten his ears so close to his head you'd think he doesn't have ears!

Such a sweetie and quite the character. He came to us 2 months after we lost Shiya. And while he can't replace her, he does make me smile.

Dreamy Chateau

Happy Friday, everyone!

Kids say the darndest things

Last night, at dinner, I asked the kids where they wanted to go on vacation:

Me: "We're thinking of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. What do you guys think?"

Gage: "Ewww. That's all country there! I hate country music!"

Me: "No it's not! Besides, you don't have to listen to the music."

Gage: "How about California?"

Me: "What are you going to do in California?"

Gage: "They have lots of roller coasters there."

Me: "Oh. Ok."

Gage: "Italy! Let's go to Italy!"

Me: "What?! What are you going to do in Italy?"

Gage: "It's Italy, Mom!"

Well, yeah. Wandering around Italy sounds great to me, but to a 13-year old boy? His sister agreed that Italy sounded like fun, too. Who knew?

The holidays are officially over...
