Fall in Florida

Fall comes late to Florida.

It's late December and the leaves are now turning red and falling from the trees.

With all the reds and greens, it's like nature decorated for Christmas.

Rainy Friday

I like rainy days. It's a nice break from the intense Florida sunshine.

I'm Neutral

I have been searching for my decorating personality for years. I'd try different styles, colors, etc. but nothing seemed to work. I was never happy with the result for very long. I FINALLY figured it out. I hope.

The problem is, I think, is that I was trying to take the advice of all the decorating experts yelling: "Color. Use color. Everywhere!" After seeing something by
Atlanta Bartlett on neutrals it finally clicked – I want neutrals. Not just neutrals, but a base of tan (I won't say beige) with muted colors as accents.

So here's the beginning - finding the perfect shade of tan. The green colors currently on the walls was throwing me off, but I did find the right color. I hope to paint the downstairs when I'm on vacation soon.

Contentment

Game night

That lovely feeling that everything is right with the world. It's the itty, bitty moments that catch you off guard.

Like going to tell your son dinner is ready and seeing him playing in his room and knowing that he'll actually like dinner.

Like playing a board game with the hubby and kids and no one is fighting. At the moment.

Like being happy with what you have, even though it isn't perfect.

This we could do. We have a tree that pretty close to the back of the house that would work.

House Changes

The house looked pretty bad when we bought it. At least the outside did. I've slooowwwly been updating the porch and front yard. I like last year's flower beds better, but the cold weather pretty much killed everything.

I love this bench idea for our patio. One under the dining room window and another near the grill.

Looks like it wouldn't be too terribly expensive to do.

I need to redo my family room and want/need to add shelving. Some ideas I'm considering.
